france 2019
don’t come during a heatwave
Apparently France never peaks above 25 degrees as my girlfriend was telling me as she booked our Airbnb… with only fanning. That is the time I learnt to never listen to her again…
All jokes aside, we were hit with a major heatwave when we arrived in Paris. The whole week we were there, it reached 40 degrees celsius most days and didn’t drop below 30 degrees - and that was at night. It was hot. Also most Parisian apartments/accomodation do not have air conditioning… so factor that in as well!
Otherwise, we visited all the standard attractions, The Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, Versailles, Arc De Triomph, Sainte-Chapelle, Disneyland and much much more.
My two highlights and recommendations are below… 1) definitely pay Mont Saint Michel a visit, either through a day-trip or stay nearby. This rocky islet is genuinely something you see in a Disney movie. My second recommendation is shopping at Galerias Lafayette… but maybe the air conditioning had a much more psychological and physical effect? I’ll leave that to you when you visit!
But, make sure to just wonder around the city… you will find hidden gems everywhere here. You can see why people fall in love with French architecture.
I must also admit that the food in Paris is world class. Everywhere we ate was divine. I don’t think you can go wrong eating in Paris, so I’ll let you do the research there.
my recommendations
-
day trip to mont saint-michel
A 4 hour drive from Paris, this is a worthy day trip. Make sure to leave early so you can spend the day here. It’s so isolated that walking across the bridge is like entering a magical kingdom.

shop at galerias lafayette
World class shopping that has both your streetwear and luxury brands. We were here in the middle of a heatwave. so. it was a good place for us to cool down! The interior is also stunning.
