verbier

this place has it all

The start of our journey. Unfortunately we couldn’t get any accomodation in Verbier itself… thanks Brits for migrating to the alps for New Years. We stayed a short 10 minute cable car ride out in Le Chable for 5 nights which is and in fact was actually very good. We were in a little bed and breakfast hosted by a lovely french lady, and it was honestly, the perfect place to start my Switzerland trip… by head-diving straight in. I obviously suggest staying in Verbier itself, but if you can’t find any accomodation, Le Chable is a good substitute, just make sure to hire a locker and leave your skis there as the hill is a major pain in the backside.

Have to admit, Verbier was hella fun tho. The slopes were epic and definitely the highlight of the trip. You are so far above the tree line that everywhere you look and ski is just pure, open, white fields. Have a look at the gallery below to see what I mean. The runs are also so, so, so long and they literally feel never ending. Quite the polar opposite skiing in Falls Creek!

There were also endless places to eat, so you won’t have any issues getting hungry, Just be prepared to spend a little bit! My recommendation is Le Rouge which I have listed below.

We were also here for NYE and got to witness the fireworks… that was cool. Just a bummer that it was somewhat crowded because of New Years, otherwise Verbier is a must visit.

my recommendations

  • le rouge restaurant & après-ski

Must go. We came here for lunch and didn’t stop raving about it the whole trip. Arguably the best meal we had and great ambience. Go for the cheese-fondue and burger.

  • mont fort

Mont Fort is the peak at Verbier. Pick and nice day and go up. The views of the alps are something else. You can even spot Mont Blanc from the viewing area. Be aware though that the ski down is super tough! It’s probably the hardest black run we did all trip. We also picked a couple spots to fly the drone and got some epic shots.

  • chalet carlsberg

Come here after a big day of skiing. Watch the sunset on the deck chairs. A great spot to have a drink before a nice, cruisy run back to call it a day. The vid below shoes part of the run back.
