zermatt
the matterhorn
If you come here, be sure to really like the Matterhorn! All jokes aside, the Matterhorn seriously announces itself. It can be seen wherever you go in Zermatt.
The ski resort itself is super fun. Unlike Verbier, the runs here are a lot easier, with many more beginner and intermediate skiing. What makes it unique… you can ski across to Italy! Where else in the world can you ski across the border??! We spent a whole day skiing in Cervinia in Italy. It’s quite interesting seeing the difference in cultures and architecture in one single day.
In terms of our accomodation, we stayed 5 nights at Hotel Bristol. I would strongly recommend staying here. Location is as good as it gets, being central yet close enough to walk to the ski lifts. 5 nights also felt spot on to see and ski everything we wanted. I managed to ski all 4 ‘mountains',’ or areas in 4 days, so it was by far enough that it didn’t feel repetitive.
Zermatt is also a car free area, so transport around the town is either by walking or electric bus! Pretty cool and a great way to keep air pollution to a minimum to preserve the views of the Toblerone mountain but just be careful because apparently the drivers think they own the roads…
I have two recommendations below. One to eat because it was simply outstanding and the other to relax after a big day.

One of the best meals I ate in Switzerland. I had the lamb saddle and that was divine. I will be back and so should you.

Great place to come here for lunch, dinner or even après drinks. We came here after a day of skiing and it was pumping. Great ambience and beers aren’t too bad either.
